The M1936 was released in four versions in different barrel lengths. The slide thumb-grooves are not cut the full width of the slide. The slide catch is in front of trigger guard and the magazine catch is at base of grips that are shorter than the M1936. It can be identified by the safety catch positioned at rear of grip. The M1932 served as the prototype for the better-known M1936 Olympia-Pistole. A comprehensive book on the Olympia-Pistole is in preparation by Warren Buxton. The Norinco TT Olympia is a Chinese copy of the Walther M1936. In 1957 Smith & Wesson produced the Model 41, based on the M1936. A new version was built in Switzerland by Walther Hammerli in 1947. Production was discontinued in 1939 due to the war. This basic design developed into the Walther PPK. An extremely well balanced pistol, both ergonomically and mechanically, it is the first semi-automatic pistol produced with an internal hammer. The third version, the M1936, was fielded in the 1936 Olympic Games where the German team won all five events in which it was used. The Walther Olympia-Pistole is a Cal.22 target pistol designed in the 1920’s. Would it help to add this to the Wikipedia entry on the Olympia-Pistole?
